2024 A to Z Challenge Reflections - and Theme Reveal

I adore the A to Z Blogging Challenge, but this year was just not kind to me over the course of April. A bunch of work and family stuff happened in rapid succession, which means that I was mostly distracted by being on the struggle bus - and almost completely fell out of visiting other blogs. Which makes me sad, because I saw and bookmarked so many great themes this year! I only completed the challenge because I had all the posts scheduled in March. Whew!

So, to make up for the mess this April has been, I have two things planned:

1. I will go back and read those awesome themes during the Road Trip! It might take me a while, but at least I will have lots of stuff to read :)

2. I might as well announce it now that I already have my theme for next year! As I have mentioned, deciding this year's theme took a lot of work. But next year's theme just came to me and I already love it. It happened too late in March to pull off this year, because it will take a lot of reading.

So, my theme for 2025 is:

EPICS ABOUT WOMEN!

I have done an Epics A to Z theme in 2015, and I greatly enjoyed it. This time - 10 years later! - I will again read 26 epics (over the course of one year), all of them featuring women protagonists! Can you name any of them? I already have the list for all 26 letters. I'm excited!

Thank you all so, so much for sticking with me this year! Thank you for the lovely comments, the likes and shares on social media, and of course, congratulations if you participated in the Challenge! You are truly an awesome community. Thank you!

  1. Congratulations. I scheduled all my post as well which freed me up for visiting. Thankfully, I had not interruptions to this plan. I also have a theme ready for next year but am I undecided about whether to participate. I didn't do any writing in April, and I'm a writer so you know... Anyway, thanks for the entertainment.

  2. Congratulation on getting to the end of the AtoZ. I love the challenge, but it isn't always easy. Life does get in the way sometimes. I also haven't read as many blogs as I'd like to this year, but I have now started. Well done on choosing a theme for next year. I think I have one that excites me but there's every chance I could change my mind during the year.

  4. I quite enjoyed your theme, and it's always good to see you. I know how you feel about visiting; that's what makes the road trip so helpful.

  5. I always enjoy your re-tellings and the connections you help us make among folktales from all over the world. I too started out reading and commenting on more blogs, including yours, and then fell away because I could barely keep up with writing my posts. Amazed that you completed yours ahead of time. I will try do do some belated visiting, and hope to catch up with you next year.

  6. Congratulations on completing the challenge and good for you for completing your posts early. I got started late, and between writing and life in general, I did not visit or comment as much as I would have liked. Reading your reflections post, I am relieved to learn I am not the only one. Wishing you well on next year’s challenge!

  9. Sorry to hear you had distracting "stuff" happen. Your posts were terrific in spite of that! I never knew there were so many romantic tropes until you wrote about them, then they became obvious.

  10. Sorry you had distractions - hope they got sorted out - As Donna says - your A-Z delivers in spades every year and I will be reading posts I missed on the Roadtrip. I too have decided on next years theme so I hope that in 2025 I will have everything written ahead of time...

  11. Kudos for planning ahead. As the title of my first post said Poetry Month Begins with Acceptance https://experiencewriting.com/2024/04/01/poetry-month-begins-with-acceptance/ I wrote "There will be ups and downs during the month (last year I fell and hit my head, pretty scary) and I want to accept all that comes with an open mind and heart." And then the next day, my internet went down. 😊

  16. Thank you for being so transparent in your reflections. Your theme next year sounds, wait for it, epic. I am excited about my theme for next year, Alphabetical Chronicles of Narnia. If I don't reread the books this year, I may have to choose something else.
